With Sylvia's organically textured
fabrics the 'growths' are created by much scrumbling in the raised
stitches, but the red fungi here are 'surface crochet', that is,
worked onto the main fabric afterwards

The idea of incorporating suede
skin into our work was partly for the contrasting smooth surface
and partly because we hoped it would speed up progress by making
less to crochet. (It didn't, really … ha!)
