'Bosnian' is the term which has been used in English-speaking countries
since Victorian times to refer to crochet made predominantly in
slip stitch, which is traditional in Bosnia (and most Muslim countries)
and may represent the earliest form of crochet anywhere

these are more or less conventional single and bi-colour patterns
#4-8: these modern variations exploit
changes in colour and texture of variegated yarn as it passes through
the fingers – the hook is inserted under the back or front
loop only of a stitch to create a relief texture or smoothness on
the surface respectively.

can also be used to emphasize or disguise tonal differences in a
variegated smooth (#7 & #8) or textured (#9) yarn
